Ideas
This was an original idea for my contents page, however after looking more into it, I decided I didn't want to have one that was so simple, and wanted to design one that had a more professional feel to it, yet still included the house style colours throughout.
Props, models, locations and choices
For my photoshoot I decided to use a boy that wasn't neat and tidy, one that could come across as looking rough and tough. I think this really connoted the bad boy attitude well throughout. The didn't really use any props, just a hat which gave the model his attitude. The picture being almost a close up doesn't give me much room to include props in, and I don't feel that they were necessary during this photoshoot because of the audience I am trying to appeal to, and because of the expression and the pose of him, it's quite clear already what and who he is so I didn't believe using any props would be necessary to support the photo. The location in which I took my photo wasn't exactly thought about as I knew I wanted to focus on editing out the background anyway so it didn't really matter where the image was taken as long as it wasn't too sunny or too dark, so all that was needed was some natural lighting. I think all these together really give off that attitude and reputation that is needed for a boy around this age with a career in rap, so that is why I chose them.

My initial ideas
My initial ideas
I want my magazine to be called Domino because I feel it is a catchy modern name that sounds like it could be a possible magazine name.
My target audience will be a mixture of personalities but under the age of about 25, as stereotypically, I don't feel people older would be interested in this kind of music and in my opinion, it reaches out to a younger audience. I want it to have a wide target audience so it has many readers and is popular. I think because it is has a mixed variety of music included in it, but more rap and hip hop it will have a large audience because girls will like to look at the boys they like, and boys will like to learn about the men they want to be. I think it would be a big hit with the audience as this magazine is all about variety.
It fits in with a few of the UK tribes groups like 'Mainstream' and 'Rahs' because these people are similar to my audience that I am expecting because they have a similar taste in music by the looks of them, sterotyping again.
I think I would expect people to pay about £3.00 for this magazine so I can keep the demand high and income higher. It would be a monthly magazine because I believe people would look forward to it more, and go out of their way to get it if it only came out once a month. If it was weekly people might begrudge paying for it, and not be so interested.
The content inside it would be about rappers mainly and hip hop artists because I feel these are the artist's with the biggest popularity and not enough magazines seem to see that, and the hip hop and rap magazines are lacking so therefore, mine would be a big hit as it's the only one about. It would include some other artists that aren't rap or hip hop just to make sure there is a variety for people that aren't into that kind of music, and so the target audience can be widened further.
The style of my magazine will be quite neat and tidy, because the artists are rough and messy, so I will syntatically balance the style of the magazine and the artists to give it a good effect. It will be bold and stand out to people, and be obvious straight away as to what the target audience is judging by the colours and the model featured on the front cover.

My Pie Charts - Audience Research
My target audience was teenagers, middle class standard who like the top brands and enjoy fashion, music and keeping up to date with celebrity gossip. They would be typical teenagers and enjoy socializing on things like Facebook, Twitter etc. In my eyes, I believe they would have quite strong personalities just like the celebrities I would have included in my magazine, and as they are my audience then they would follow each issue of my magazine and want to be as outspoken and confident as their celebrity stars.
I decided on this target audience because I feel that my magazine would be more attractive and suitable to them. My magazine has a different range of music but focuses on hip hop which is considered a very popular genre of music anyway. I think the people in my magazine would definitely get their attention as I feel they are the kind of people that would enjoy them.
I wanted to find out their personal interests. Things like what they buy, what artists they like, what brands they like, what their favourite shops were. This helps me get a better idea about my target audience and their likes and dislikes. I wanted to get this kind of information to aid my magazine into becoming as successful as it could be, and so it can appeal to a wide variety of people making the target audience even bigger and therefore, selling more magazines.
I conducted my research by doing an online questionnaire using 'www.surveymonkey.com' which was really successful and got me the information needed. I decided on this methodology because I felt that based on society now, more people would be willing to fill out an online survey as it appears much quicker and faster than them having to write out their answers.
Looking back on my research, I am happy with it and I got the information needed. I think that it helped me get the general idea of what the public would want, and what my target audience would need.
The only problem I found was when using Survey Monkey, the amount of questions you can use is limited to about 10 so I couldn't ask as many questions as I probably would have liked to, although I still think it was a good, rapid way to get the information needed.
I think the only thing I would change was instead of asking people to name three celebrity singers they like, I could have gave them a list and they write a number 1-5 or something and then they write 1 being their favourite to see appear in my magazine, and 5 being the one they wouldn't really want to see. That way although they wouldn't have been able to tell me who their own personal favourites are, I could then be able to analyse my data easier than it was having about 20 artists being named so therefore, my pie chart was very confusing and hard to annotate. This would have made the question more closed, and so they couldn't tell me about themselves as much though, however, it would have been quite a reasonable idea to get results. I could have picked about seven artists from the charts which would hopefully cover most people's favourites anyway.

I chose to do this one, because I like the red in it, and the posture of the model and would like to include this in my own one.
